Some celebrities who risked being caught up in the allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have already settled with victims in an effort to keep their names out of the spotlight, according to an attorney on the case.
Tony Buzbee told TMZ major celebrities are scrambling amid concerns they could soon face serious allegations themselves.
Diddy has been charged with a host of sex trafficking and racketeering offenses with upwards of 120 victims already coming forward.
But according to Buzbee, some celebrities could avoid public retribution because they got on the front foot.
‘Everyone is focused on what other celebrities were involved, who is going to be named, who is going to be outed. I don’t expect that to happen this week,’ he said.
‘We want to make sure if we name individuals beyond Mr Combs that we have done our homework because it is going to create a firestorm, and we understand that.
‘If you were there in the room, participated, watched it happen and didn’t say anything or helped cover it up, in my view, you have a problem.’
Buzbee vowed to pursue the cases against any offender ‘aggressively’, and said the scope was broad.
‘A lot of people saw this activity going on, a lot of people allowed it to go on, said nothing, didn’t intervene… all of these individuals and entities have exposure.’
Buzbee said he has sent out demand letters to other celebrities and high-profile people in an effort to give them an opportunity to quietly settle.
‘In every single case, especially cases like this… because it’s in the best interests of the victim, we attempt to resolve these matters without the filing of a public lawsuit and we’ve done that already with a handful of individuals, many of which you’re heard of before.’
Buzbee has previously discussed the sheer volume of calls he and his team have received with complaints against Diddy.
Of the 120 people he is now representing, 25 claim they were minors at the time they were allegedly abused.
Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami homes were both raided in March 2024, months before he was ultimately arrested and charged.
Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and was denied bail, despite his legal team’s request for him to be released for $50 million and kept electronically monitored.
The artist is accused of using ‘power and prestige’ to lure and intimidate women under the ‘pretense of a romantic relationship.’
In the wake of his arrest, all of Diddy’s celebrity friendships have been under scrutiny. Photographs from his infamous parties have resurfaced, with guests and witnesses speaking out about the debauchery which often took place.
Buzbee previously said people would be ‘shocked’ by the names he’s heard during the course of his investigation.
‘It’s a long list already, but because of the nature of this case, we are going to make damn sure, damn sure, that we’re right before we do that.
Combs is currently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center pending trial after two of his bail requests were rejected.
Erica Wolff, an attorney representing Combs, told Page Six: ‘As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus.
‘That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.
‘He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.’
‘To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words.’
